Bell’s Brewery- Winter White Ale: Don’t Drink The Yellow Snow

Jason This is one winter seasonal that I would say you would be better off not being given on Christmas eve or may even stuff a stocking with it instead of coal. This uninteresting wheat ale is as off putting as one of those Christmas cards with a fat chick in a bikini wearing a Santa hat.
To ensure that my tasted buds weren’t playing scrooge on me I decided to walk a bottle over to my neighbor across the street. I should be lucky that on my next trip across the street he didn’t run me over with the Pontiac as he too found this beverage to be qualified to be place on TGBOAT’s naughty list.
This beer was poured into an imperial pint glass and has a cloudy yellow color with a white head (which quickly disappeared leaving little to no lacing) and comes in at a 5% ABV.
Bell’s Brewery classifies this as a Wheat Ale and their website describes it as “A Wheat Ale brewed with American Wheat and a proprietary blend of Hefe and classic Belgian-style yeasts. A refreshing winter alternative created from the subtle fusion of two classic flavors.” The bottle states “A seasonally nuanced wheat ale that is both stylish and refreshing.”
For me this beer was way too citrusy and had no resemblance to any other winter brew that I am aware of. When it comes to winter seasonal beers this would be my equivalent of having Santa stuff your stocking full of coal, drinking all the beer in you fridge and then swiping a $20 out of your wallet.
So save Santa the trouble of trashing your holiday season and reach for something else on your next trip to shop for your seasonal suds.
ABV: 5.0%
Consumed: Imperial Pint Glass
Verdict: Skip It
