Jason Holy shnikes, yes another IPA. I figured that since I started riding this slope that I would see it to the end. This part of the journey had me visiting a brewery that amazed me and had me feeling the Christmas spirit with their Christmas Ale, this time it’s their IPA. Breckenridge Brewery’s Lucky U IPA will be my beer du jour.
Breckenridge Brewery classifies this brew as an American India Pale Ale and their website describes Lucky U IPA as “We like to think this is an ale for everyone who believes you make your own luck. We sure did. And the result is a well-balanced, soulful IPA with just the right amount of hoppiness. An even keeled ale that goes down clean and refreshing, but still lets you know it’s been doted on by the Brewmaster. It's true to its IPA heritage, but also highly drinkable. Lucky U. And we seriously mean that.”
This beer pours a copper color with a ¼ inch off white head with both citrus & hop aromas and is 6.2% ABV.
Lucky me, this is a crisp refreshing IPA with a nice balance between the hops & malts giving it a smooth finish. Lucky U is not as bitter as some of the other IPA’s I’ve tried but this is what makes it stand on its own two feet and sets itself apart from the crowd. In my opinion, this would be a great IPA to start off one’s journey down IPA Way, an IPA with training wheels so to speak. Lucky U is a good beer for good times…are you ready to get Lucky??
ABV: 6.2%
