Breckenridge Brewery- Oatmeal Stout: 12 Ounces Of Enjoyment

I decided to take a brief break from the IPAs and go with something a little bolder.  So, off to the garage I went to see what I had in a little darker variety.  Upon scanning the various bottles waiting to be tasted, I decided that since I had a great drinking experience with both their Christmas Ale & Lucky U IPA that I would grab for a Breckenridge Brewery’s Oatmeal Stout.  Darker indeed!

Breckenridge Brewery classifies this brew as a Specialty Stout and their website describes Oatmeal Stout as “Rich, round and roasted, our Oatmeal Stout is satisfaction in a glass. It's a bold, smooth-bodied concoction that oozes dark-roasted coffee aromas and flavors of espresso and semi-sweet chocolate. We round out these heady pleasures with a dose of flaked oatmeal for a creamy body and a semi-dry finish.

This beer pours a dark chocolate color with little to no head but enough to make out that if it was a hearty head that it was tan in color and a sweet chocolate/roasted malt aroma with a 4.95% ABV.

The website describes this beer perfectly.  This beer exceeded my expectations and could not be more balanced and flavorful.  If you are a stout lover then this beer is right up your alley.  If not, then you are surely missing one of the better stouts out there that I have had.  If you don’t know if you like stouts or never tried one…then this would be a great one to start with due to its balanced flavor.  Thanks again Breckenridge Brewery…your brews are delicious!!

ABV: 4.95%
