Buffalo Bills Brewery- Orange Blossom Cream Ale: Orange you glad you read this review first.

I am a sucker for orange: Orange candy, orange cream sickles, pretty much anything with an orange, citrus flavor. So when I was perusing through the World Market I was a little beyond excited to find Buffalo Bill’s Brewery’s Orange Blossom Cream Ale. I was looking for something sweet and delicious on a warm spring day that would make me forget about my recent IPA overdose.

According to California based Buffalo Bill’s website, orange flavored craft beer is the fastest growing style of craft beer, hmm that seems kind of weird but I will trust them. The label boasts orange peel, honey and orange flower extract packed into this ale. It sounds delicious, on paper at least.

Orange Blossom Cream Ale poured (shockingly) light orange in color with an overabundance of straight white foam. The aroma is pure sweet orange. It smells exactly like Diet Slice and is almost as fizzy. The problem is that it tastes like orange soda as well. This brew is too damn fizzy and too damn sweet. WOW! I mean it tastes like beer mixed with orange juice concentrate. I cannot figure out how the whole “cream” word snuck into the conversation. Orange Blossom is way too thin and crisp to have cream anywhere near its label.

Buffalo Bill’s has some very intriguing beers on their website, so I am not going to write them off anytime soon. This beer seems to be mislabeled however. I was really let down by this offering. I think there is potential to make a Kick-Ass orange cream ale. Unfortunately this is not it. If your girlfriend is looking to get into beer this might be a great stepping stone. For the rest of us on our global beer quest, Orange Blossom is a distraction, like an ugly women standing in front of her pretty friend.

ABV: 5.2%
