Chameleon Brewing Company- Hop on Top: Don’t let the label fool ya!

Wes Another night, another freebie from Jason, there is something about getting a beer from a friend that makes it just a little bit better. Tonight’s fair is Hop on Top from Chameleon Brewing Company out of Wisconsin. I was excited to try this brew due to the kick ass label and because I am always looking for a new hoppy adventure.
Hop on Top pours very light and without a speck of haze. This straw colored brew had no discernable foam and almost zero carbonation. The aroma was very light with hints of sweet malt and notes of dainty grapefruit/ citrus hop. Hop on Top just doesn’t have much gravity of “presence” in your glass.
I think Chameleon Brewing is having an identity crisis here. Hop on Top is a decent beer in a very misleading label. The name needs to be changed immediately because this beer has no hints of hops. Hop on Top is actually an extremely light and sweet beer that is more suited to hot summer days. It has a paltry 4.2% ABV. If Chameleon re-branded this brew with less aggressive packaging they could have a great beer for your girlfriend or your (21 year old) kid brother. I, on the other hand, have already pickled any taste buds delicate enough to enjoy this pretty, little beer.
ABV: 4.2%
Consumed: Sensory Glass
Verdict: Bum one from a Friend
