Jason Ever had one of those days where shit just doesn’t seem to go your way? Every last one of your friends has the same shit going on with them as well? Today was just one of those days where nothing went right. Work sucks for every last person I know…well maybe not every last person but you get my point. Thankfully I have to remind myself that all things aside, I have it pretty decent. If it wasn’t for my wife & kids and all the other things in life that I enjoy that keep me anchored…I’d be a complete loose cannon. Gotta work in that transition, as you know Clipper City Brewing Company/Heavy Seas’ Loose Cannon (Hop3 Ale) is going to try and add some additional pull to keep me docked.
Clipper City Brewing Company/Heavy Seas classifies this craft beer as an American India Pale Ale (IPA) and their website describes Loose Cannon as, "Burnished gold with a rich citrus hop aroma, it is wonderfully drinkable with a big hop flavor. We’ve knicknamed it Hop3 (hop cubed) ale to reflect the enormous amount of hops in this beer: over 3 pounds per barrel! It is hopped 3 ways: in the kettle, in the hop back and dry hopped." The bottle label goes on to state, "Our Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale is a hop shot across the bow! Hops, hops, AND MORE hops – over 3lbs per barrel, at three different times in the process. Herbal and aromatic: an amazingly delicious American IPA."
Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale pours an unfiltered speckled golden color with a ½” off white head and has citrusy/floral hop aroma and is a perfect seven seas 7% ABV.
Well for now it appears that my seas have calmed and I’m hoping that tomorrow will bring some smooth sailing. The bad news is that it is my only one as my father was kind enough to bring me back a six pack from his last trip through Michigan (by the time I got the six pack it had been reduced to a three pack, my father enjoyed the other three Loose Cannons). Currently this Maryland brew is not available in northern Illinois, and for that I may have to pillage and plunder. This is a really solid American IPA. Loose Cannon has a dry taste with a bounty of hop, grapefruit & slight fruit flavors that has a minimal malt sweetness and a moderate level of carbonation. I really like Loose Cannon. I’m not much of sea baring creature but I’d climb aboard this vessel and weather some heavy seas in order locate some more of this booty. Loose Cannon is the X that marks the spot on this Craft Beer treasure map.
