Great Divide Brewing Company- Hibernation Ale: You Sir Are A Liar!

I really hate two things: 80’s Hair Metal and Liars. This beer falls into the second category. Why, for the love of god, would you name a beer that tastes like two shots of espresso, Hibernation Ale? Why? It makes no sense. This beer does not make a person want to sleep in any fashion. It might, however, make you franticly clean your house with the energy boost you’re going to get.

The label describes this beer as malty and robust. They are not lying! I am not opposed to strong beers, but this beer is strong in a bad way. The aroma is pure coffee and nut. It pours heavy, it tastes heavy and it just sits heavy in your mouth. This drink is not bad. It just seems to be having an identity crisis. Repackage it. Rebrand it. And give the consumer a more concise depiction of what is in the bottle. This is not like any English-Style Ale I have ever had. There is a really good beer in here. I just feel like this brew is not really winding up in the hands of the people who would most enjoy it.

 ABV: 8.7%

 Consumed: Pint Glass

 Verdict: Buy A Six-Pack
