Jason Boy do I have a lot of catching up to do. As you may have noticed, July’s been a rough month and we’re about 10 reviews behind the curve. We like to give you something daily and for that I apologize. What is great is that it is Saturday and I’m chilling on the couch watching some summer X Games and other than cleaning around the house and laundry I have nothing else to do today. Knowing that makes it prefect for catching up on some past due reviews. You may have not noticed is that it’s been a month since my last IPA review. I figured that I would return to old form and bust out an IPA review. So here goes, today it’s going to be Great Divide Brewing Company’s Titan IPA. Will this brew quench my thirst of will my taste buds be in a clash with this Titan?
Great Divide Brewing Company classifies this brew as an India Pale Ale (IPA) and their website describes Titan IPA as, “Titan IPA is a big, aggressively hopped India Pale Ale brewed for hop disciples. It starts out with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors, and finishes with a nice rich, malty sweetness that is balanced with crisp hop bitterness.”
Titan IPA pours an unfiltered golden/orange color with a big 1 ¼” off-white head and has a huge floral hop and citrus hop aroma and is 7.1% ABV.
I remember the Titan, in the sense that I have had this brew before. The first time around with Titan I can tell you that I wasn’t all that impressed. For some reason, whether it is what I ate or drank prior, today it tastes different from how I remember it. It’s got a very unique taste that sets it apart from your standard IPAs. The hop flavor is super citrusy and the caramel malt sweetness adds the perfect complement to the beginning bite. Despite the bite, this beer is silky smooth and extremely enjoyable. If you’re not a fan of IPA’s then you will definitely clash with this Titan. However, if you are a hardcore Hop Head then I think you will want to Remember The Titan over and over again.
ABV: 7.1%
Consumed: Nonic Pint Glass
Verdict: Buy A Twelve Pack
