Half Acre Beer Co/Three Floyds Brewing Co- Shewolf: I’m On Team Shewolf

I’m staying local for this one.  Back in May for American Craft Beer week, I had the pleasure of attending an event at Half Acre Beer Co on Chicago’s north side.  There was a lot of hype surrounding the event due to the fact that they were releasing their Double Daisy Cutter and let me tell you that is was by far one of the best brews I have ever had and easily a Top 10.  I have two bottles sitting in the fridge, one to review and the second to enjoy for a special occasion.  This beer was an extremely limited release and I am almost tempted to bury a bottle so that in a 1000 years some future civilization can know how kick ass American Craft Beer was.  So back on June 2nd I visited Half Acre’s Blog site only to discover that they we going to do a collaboration brew with Three Floyds Brewing Company.  At that point I JIMP’d.  I love Three Floyds and I love Half Acre…is this a dream?  Their love child Shewolf IPA is poured and ready.

Half Acre/Three Floyds classify this brew as an India Pale Ale (IPA) and Half Acre’s website describes Shewolf as, "It's tough to beat the fine quality of tipping back an IPA on a summer day.

In that spirit, in collaboration with Three Floyds Brewing Co, we drop the Shewolf. This India Pale Ale has a minimalist's approach with clean & uncluttered grain and hop usage. Filling out at 7.5% abv and closer to straw in color, we're excited to get this beer in the hands of summer."

Shewolf pours a hazy golden orange/straw color with a 1” big bubbled white head and has one of the most beautiful floral aromas as well as citrus/grapefruit aromas and is 7.5% ABV.

Hands down, one of the best IPAs I have ever had the opportunity to consume.  WOW, I would sell the wife & kids, take out a second mortgage, run up the credit cards and may even perform some things I would not mention here.  The first thing that really stands out is the mesmerizing floral aroma, I cannot think of another beer that had me from the second it was opened.  I sat and smelled it for a good 5 minutes; I would buy my wife perfume that had its aroma.  The flavor, damn near perfection, huge hop & citrus flavors with subtle malt sweetness in the background.  I really am blow away by Shewolf, I am now severly regretting only buying myself three bottles.  Looks like I’m going to have to make a trip to Half Acre again sometime in the next week because I’m going to blow through the three bottles very quick.  Having daughters, they are all in to this B.S. Twilight movie crap and you have to either be on Team Jacob or Team Edward.  As for me, I’m on Team Shewolf, she would kick both their asses and slay any other foe that dare challenge her greatness.  After the amazing Double Daisy Cutter and the collaboration with Three Floyds, Half Acre is positioning itself to be a dominate force in the Midwest Craft Brew scene.
