Hook & Ladder Brewing Company- Golden Ale: In Case Of Emergency, Pour In Glass

Is there any more honorable career than that of a volunteer firefighter?  Other than police officers and our men & women in the armed forces, firefighters rank inline with the bravest of the brave.  So when I found out that there was a brewery that was started by a volunteer firefighter, I decided that I had to do my part and seek out this brave brew.  Luckily I didn't have to look too hard as my neighbor had one waiting for me on my previous trip across the street.  He handed me a Hook & Ladder Brewing Company’s Golden Ale.  I found my self parched and it was time to call on this beer to hopefully save the day.

Hook & Ladder Brewing Company classifies this beer as a Golden Ale and their website describes Golden Ale as follows, “This Golden Ale is a deep in color with a pleasing malt aroma.  A distinctive medium bodied beer that finishes crisply with a slight malt sweetness and essence of citrus flavor with a subtle finish of Willamette hops.”  In addition the label states, “Hook & Ladder Golden Ale is a crisp, clean American Ale perfect for extinguishing your fiery thirst or when you crave an ice-cold beer.”

Golden Amber pours a clear golden blonde color with a 1 ½” off white head and has a malty/fruity banana/citrus aromas and comes in at 5.5% ABV.

This brew is a Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal winner for the American Style Wheat Category and what is even more interesting about the brewery is that they have a Burn Foundation that supports Firefighters.  That being said, this is a good beer.  It has a very balanced flavor and has a slightly sweet fruit finish.  Golden Ale is very drinkable, mildly carbonated and would be a perfect companion if you’re looking for something to drink on a hot day.  It is very light in taste and would not be good if you’re looking for something a little more complex.  So if you’re looking for a brew that is simple, clean and easy to drink then Golden Ale is for you, if not…then pray that your house never catches on fire.

ABV: 5.5%

Verdict: Buy A Twelve Pack
