Jason This next review is also a brew that Wes highly recommended. It has been sitting in the fridge for a while now and I thought it appropriate that I finally bust it out and see what it’s got. I love IPAs and I’m always up for a challenge and tonight’s opponent is Lagunitas Brewing Company’s Hop Stoopid. Will I feel stupid for not getting stoopid earlier…let’s find out.
Lagunitas Brewing Company doesn't specifically refer to a style for this beer and their website describes Hop Stoopid as follows, "For those mornings when you have to cut right to the chase, this is the one. Sure to blast through just about anything still lingering from the night before, this mouthful of Hops and huge rich Malt has a guarantee built right into the name!"
Hop Stoopid pours a clear sunset golden color with a 1 1/4" off white head and smacks you in the face with an abundance of floral, citrus, piney & grapefruit hop aromas as well as some pale malt scents underneath and is 8% ABV.
Damn Straight. This is one hoptastically hoppy heaven of bitter bliss. Wow!! I am feeling super stoopid for waiting this long to bust out this bitter beauty. This is not a brew for some weak-ass hophead wanna-be, you have to be a hardcore hophead to truly enjoy and appreciate this wickedly crafted brew. Hop Stoopid is bitter all the way through from start to finish with only slight hints of malt smoothness. If you are a self proclaimed or certified hophead and you haven't tried Hop Stoopid yet...what the hell are you waiting for??? If you have tried it, then you know what I'm talking about!!
ABV: 8.0%
Consumed: New Belgium Globe Glass
Verdict: Buy A Case
