Metropolitan Brewing- Dynamo Copper Lager: Dy-no-mite

I am a strong proponent of supporting local businesses whenever possible and when it came to finding out that there was a relatively new brewery located in Chicago, I headed out to find some as fast as possible.  What stood out was the great label artwork that is both unique and original.  The brewery and beer I am referring to is Metropolitan Brewing’s Copper Lager.

This beer is classified as a Vienna Lager and Metropolitan Brewing’s website describes Dynamo Copper Lager as, “If malt and hops are the two poles of brewing, this beer is the gently spinning sweet spot between them. First, you’ll notice the spicy aromas of Perle and Hallertau hops. Then - wipe the foam off the tip of your nose - dive into the toasty flavors of Vienna and Munich malts. Dynamo starts strong and finishes crisp and smooth. The balanced flavors, aromas, and even the coppery-red tones of this beer go great with everything. Fear no pairing. The best time to enjoy Dynamo is when you’re thirsty.

Dynamo Copper Lager pours a dark copper color with a tiny ½” white head and has both malt & spice aromas and is 5.6% ABV.

Having a great label aside, there is an even better beer inside.  Dynamo has a unique malty taste that is not over powering but fell right into my taste buds sweet spot.  The finish is both sweet and a bit dry.  If you are a lager fan you will love this beer.  It is a great marriage between the hops and malts that will ensure that this brew will be around for its golden anniversary.  I am looking forward to trying more brews from the crew over at Metropolitan Brewing.
