Mother Earth Brewing- Weeping Willow Wit: Won Wicked Wit

Ok, I get it and the message is clear…yes I have an IPA bias.  Correct, the name of the website is NOT thegreatestipaofalltime.com and I need to spice things up and start expanding my horizons outside my IPA comfort zone.  My string of reviews over the next few weeks will be dedicated to my friend Pam Lewis as she pokes at me about my IPA bias and I’m making the switch at her suggestion.  This next selection is more along the lines of what Pan typically likes as it is a Belgian Style Wit.  This beer came to me from the Brew King of Kinston, North Carolina, Josh Brewer.  While at the brewery a few months back he blessed me with a few bottles of Weeping Willow Wit to bring home with me to review.  Now I do have to mention that I did have a small sample of this brew while at the brewery and I do remember liking it then but again it was a little sample.  So let’s give this brew the TGBOAT treatment and see how she goes.

Mother Earth Brewing Company classifies this brew as a Belgian-Style Wit Beer and their website describes Weeping Willow Wit as, “This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say it's like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this refreshing beer.”

Weeping Willow Wit pours a hazy bright straw yellow with a ¼” snow white colored head.  The aroma has a slight ester scent mixed with lemon zest, spices and some peppery hints.

Yep, now I remember completely.  This is an amazing Craft Beer.  I’m not typically a fan of Belgian styles or wheat brews but this is a second to none brew; based on the ones that I have tried in the past.  Weeping Willow Wit starts out with your classic Belgian flavor which stems from the Belgian yeast strain.  From there it is a cornucopia of lemon, spices, some orange and coriander that blend together perfectly to provide you with a flavorful and refreshing brew.  Weeping Willow Wit is won wicked wit.  I’m really diggin’ this brew but as usual, my inventory level of this brew currently stands at 1.  Looks like I’m going to have to pack up the car and make a little trip to Kinston as I would easily make the 916 mile trip to get me some more.
