O’Fallon Brewery- O’Fallon Gold: This Ain’t No Pawn

Jason These trips to the fridge are starting to get frustrating as hell. Having choices can be a good thing and it can also be a curse. I’ve wasted more energy standing there with the fridge door open just staring into the endless abyss of Craft Beer than I’ve probably spent on the beer sitting within it. So what is one to do? How does one make a good choice? That is my dilemma this evening. After rearranging the bottles as if I was playing an intense, strategic game of chess with my fridge; I decided on a beer from a brewery that I have yet to try. I decided to give O’Fallon Brewery’s O’Fallon Gold a try. Good move or did I just get checkmated?
O’Fallon Brewery classifies this brew as a Golden Ale and their website describes O’Fallon Gold as, "The original beer from our brewery…a smooth golden ale with three types of barley, two varieties of hops and fresh Kolsch yeast. It’s cold-conditioned and carefully filtered for a clear, beautifully colored, delicious beer."
Gold pours a golden color with straw color edges and a 1” off white head. The aroma is a fairly standard golden ale smell of sweet malts & wheat/grain and is a sessionable 4.9% ABV.
O’Fallon Gold is a decent beer with a good flavor. I get more of a wheat beer taste than a straight golden ale but it works. What I do love about it is that it is very easy drinking, light and with only a 4.9% ABV you can knock a few back after mowing the lawn or during you neighborhood softball game and still feel productive. I can honestly say that the fridge didn’t get the best of me this time as I really enjoyed O’Fallon Gold, I’d say it was more of a stalemate if anything.
ABV: 4.9%
Consumed: New Belgium Globe Glass
Verdict: Buy A Twelve Pack
