No Bellaire Brown is not Shaft’s sidekick or a superfly brother from another 70’s blacksploitation flick. Bellaire Brown is actually a beer that Short’s Brew refers to as their “gateway” beer, on account of its criminally smooth nature. I’m gonna crack one of these jive turkeys open myself, and see if I can find a little strange… can you dig that? Sucka?
Bellaire Brown is… well… brown. It has a thick, khaki colored head with a strong and nutty aroma. It is difficult to encapsulate with words, but Bellaire Brown has a certain presence. It seems to sit in your glass with a heavy and commanding nature. Take my word for it; Bellaire Brown seems to stare right back at you. This is definitely not a beer for your Miller Chill crowd.
I was enthusiastically impressed with what Bellaire Brown had to offer. If I had to describe this brew in one word, I would say, body. Short’s Brewing Company’s Bellaire Brown tackles all your taste buds and beats them down. There is a bitter, nutty, malt-bite that mingles with the same dairy sweetness that I have only ever found in Fat Tire. This is a kick ass and tasty beer with no hops to be found. It's just strong, robust and slightly sweet from start to finish. Bellaire Brown is hands down one of the most delicious beers I have ever put to my lips. I would say this is the perfect after dinner beer to gulp around the campfire. And if anyone tells you differently, slap them in their mouth and tell them, “no one disrespects Bellaire Brown, MOFO.”
