Short’s Brewing Company- Uber Goober: Packed full of peanuts and promise!

Wes I decided to take a couple weeks off of the review world to enjoy my holidays and simply drink some beers just for pleasure. I had many great brews including an aged bottle of Darklord from my new favorite beer aficionado, Dave. I brought many bottles back from Michigan, but there was one that really stood out to me. I have been dying to give Uber Goober from Short’s Brewing Company a review since I tried it over Christmas.
Uber Goober is an Oatmeal Stout brewed with peanuts. I am not generally a big stout fan, simply because I think they all taste very similar. I have enjoyed a few oatmeal stouts over the years, but they haven’t seemed to be a beer that I seek out regularly. Aesthetically Uber Goober is a very straightforward stout. It pours pitch-black with a strong roasted malt sent. It had no real foam or carbonation to speak of.
Uber Goober shines in the flavor department however. The peanuts add a sweet and nutty finish to the dry coffee body of the stout. It is like a bite of coffee cake with a sweet peanut butter cracker. The sweet and dry finish will leave you begging for more as the roasted malt gives way to creamy peanut goodness.
Hats off again to Short's Brewing Company. This brewery has continually amazed, surprised, shocked, disgusted, impressed and tantalized me. Uber Goober sits right next to Breckinridge Brewery’s Vanilla Bean Porter as my two favorite “dark” beers. This beer beautifully circumvents my hatred of coffee flavors by adding a velvety sweet finish. Keep ‘em coming Shorts!!!
