Trinity Brewing Company – Flo (India Pale Ale): Sensory Overload

As told in the Trinity Awaken review, we spent our last evening in Colorado in Colorado Springs.  I can’t say enough how great this place is.  The décor, atmosphere and staff were beyond expectations and their Craft Beer selection was well-rounded and offered something for everyone.  You get a great sense that not only did a lot of well directed thought go into the construction of Trinity Brewing Company but their brews reflect a level of craftsmanship and thought that really come through in the flavor of each of these crafted concoctions.  As you know, I am a big fan of IPAs and I would be remiss if I didn’t have one and review it.  Trinity Brewing Company’s Flo IPA is next.

Trinity Brewing Company classifies Flo as an India Pale Ale (IPA) and their menu describes Flo as, “A staff and ‘regulars’ favorite of our public house.  Brewed with a blend of seven hop varities and seven world class malts this aromatically dry hopped ale combines both English and American brewing traditions.  The result is a fruit driven by dry palate, a true treat for the bold fans of the hoppier side of beers.  Served on either CO2, Nitrogen, or specialty batch hand drawn cask.”

Flo pours a brilliant golden orange color with a small off white head.  The aromas are a combination of hoppy, grapefruit/citrusy and fruity wrapped all in one.

I decided to savor this brew in the hand drawn cask variety and let me tell you that this is a second to none IPA.  The aroma hits you with a huge hop scent that is fruity and citrusy.  WOW!!  What I love is that due to the hand drawn cask there is less carbonation which to me lets the flavor take center stage.  The flavor starts out citrusy and sweet transitioning to a hoppy middle that finishes pleasantly dry.  I love everything about this beer.  The complexity is deep and flavorful.  What I love about Trinity’s bar is that it is made from recycled glass and is lit from underneath, this feature provided a glowing effect to this beer that stimulates your visual senses.  Flo IPA and Trinity Brewing is an experience that will satisfy all of your senses.  Start to finish, one of the best IPAs I’ve ever had and an adventure that will not be soon forgotten.
