Two Brothers Brewing Company- Cane & Ebel: Rye Ask Rye?

After last evenings consumption of Red’s Rye P.A. I thought that I would search my stockpile to see if there was another brew of the rye variety to quench my thirst once again.  It was then I realized that I had a few brews left over from my father’s day rib cook-off (which by the way I lost) that were used in the recipe.  I am speaking of Two Brothers Brewing Company’s Cane & Ebel.  Because I didn’t really use the beer for other than the recipe I am looking forward to seeing if Cane & Ebel can bring me the same joy as did Red’s Rye?

Two Brothers Brewing Company classifies this brew as Red Rye Ale and their website describes Cane & Ebel as Dry, but with a creamy touch of Thai palm sugar and the spicy tang of Rye, all balanced by loads of the wackiest new hops we could lay our hands on.  Yep, it’s an original.  And that’s no sin.

Cane & Ebel pours a dark amber/brown with a ½” khaki head and an aroma that is spicy, piney, hoppy and rye malty and is 7.0%.

Once again Two Brothers sleigh it!!  This is a phenomenal craft beer.  Much like & unlike Red’s Rye it is similar in aspects and different in others.  I get a bit spicier and sweeter than Red’s and a little heavier mouth feel.  The taste begins more on the sweet side gets a bit of hop bite and then back to a pleasurably smooth sweet malt finish.  Same style, completely difference performance.  I am officially hooked on rye beers now.  Cane & Ebel follows the same craftsmanship as I have come to enjoy from Two Brothers and the flavor is second to none.  If you get the chance to try this brotherly duo, do it and don’t ask why…just drink RYE!
